Hidden Child

Suitcase, black stilettos, crisp

Perfect posture stands

Holding an ice cream cone

Bittersweet

As strongly as the heart yearns
For home, good company, familiarity
So the heart embraces the new
And welcome winds of change

As I ache for the cool touch
Of my mother's weathered fingers
Her clatter in the kitchen
Her halo of protection and comfort
So I stand wide-eyed, excited
For me new-found freedom
Bearing new responsibilities
With a smile and strong stance

As furiously as I cling to
The part of me i left behind
So I let this new person
Find her soul

He's just not you

He's so gorgeous
His lines outrageous
He makes the first move
But he's just not you

He's naughty, like a child
He's crazy and wild
It's great, he's funny too
But he's just not you

He flirts with me all the time
But he doesn't make me rhyme
He's fresh, he's new
But he's just not you

HE can't write beautiful songs
He can't make me belong
In your arms like you do
No one could ever be you.

Wishes

Let us marry on a beach
With white rosed garlands
Let our parents bless us
With all their hearts
Let our footprints on the sand
Never erase from memory
No matter that they were
Erased by the sea

Let us spend those first years
Like new lovers
Discovering each others'
Bodies, minds, souls
Let the passion never die
Despite the years that pass
Let our hands always hold
To comfort each other

Let our every thought, word and action
Be infused with gentleness
Let we never lie or betray
And if we ever do
Let us forgive in time
If ever there is a doubt of fading love
Let it dissolve at once
When we are in each others' arms

Let the harsh words that we speak
Be drowned by the laughter
Of our children
Let them reflect our childhood
And remind us to be carefree

Let us never be too busy
To say, "I love you"
Let our arguments be peaceful
I hope work never forces us
To neglect our family
Or to neglect our love

I wrote this one night when I couldn't get sleep. These wishes are things that i know will never really come true, little girls like to wish upon stars. I just wanted to write down my insane hopes. I don't know if it classifies as poetry, but it is the song of my heart and I hope that counts.

Opposite

I inhale
You exhale
I cry
I sigh
You smile
All the while
I understand
You just can't
I'm lost
At sea, tossed
And turning
Stomach churning
You're ashore
Locked your door
In the clouds
Laughing out loud
You don't know
I'm waiting below

You walk
You talk
Move along
Sing your songs
I wait
You're late
Your words
Absurd
So kind
I'm blind
To your love
Tired of
Fighting
Lighting
Our flame
Like a game
Of hide and seek

I'm weak
You're strong
I'm wrong
To accuse you
I can't lose you
You stay
Today
Tomorrow
I know
Bigger things
Life will bring
You'd leave
Bereaved
I'd lie
I'd cry

There's Something About You

This isn't serious poetry; i was just having some fun :)

Something about you makes me smile
Just thinking of our times together
And when I start, I can't seem to stop
Proof of how much we love each other

Something about you melts my heart
I feel a longing to cuddle in your hug
I want to hold your face in my hands
Sit on a couch with you and a coffee mug

Something about you tickles my ribs
I roll around in a giggly fit
You cheered me up with all that humour
My dark days with laughter you lit

Something about you tears me up
Because our time is running out
Is it my fear that forever can never happen?
Yet in the depth of our love, I know no doubt

Something about you turns me on
Well, everything about you does
From your voice to your wrists to your yummy kiss
Just a bed, some chocolate and us!

Cancer

MySpace Comments

A wife, one day she awoke
To see her husband sleeping
She kissed him good morning
Seeing not the terror creeping

The mother sat with her family
Her children babbling away
She smiled unnasuming
That hell would break loose today

She felt some fatigue, but let it pass
"It's nothing to worry about"
Till all day did her body ache
And she felt a twinge of doubt

She waited in the asylum-white room
The odour of medicine in the air
With a number for a name, she walked
Head on into the nightmare

In a daze like a wooden puppet
She let them probe and prick
The man in white, he shook his head
"Ma'am I think you're very sick"

She did not understand him
"How sick am I?" asked she
He scribbled in a pad and said
"I'll send you to Oncology"

Easy Trust

Why stranger do you listen
To my angst and sorrow
How does your act
Sponge away my pain

You find my fingers
Your heart beats
With my ever aching heart
You taste my tears

Stranger, I do not know
Where you head
Yet, I lay bare all
The shadows of my past

You speak not in reply
But the fever ebbs away
Like a line of mercury
In a thermometer

These moments you hear
My quivering voice, I try
To hide myself and my tears
But you set them free

Stay stranger, I shall unveil
Your mysteries
Let us ease our loneliness
Let me discover your shadows

Love

The moonlight's glitter on the ocean
Couldn't be as beautiful as love

A flower in springtime bloom
Couldn't be as joyful as love

A snowflake on a tree branch
Couldn't be as delicate as love

The fiery hot glare of the sun
Couldn't be as passionate as love

A star studded midnight
Couldn't be as magical as love

A footprint upon a golden coast
Couldn't be as ephemeral as love

The blood flowing through every vein
Couldn't be as life-giving as love

The forest sawed down that regenerates
Couldn't be as forgiving as love

A shower of rain in the desert
Couldn't be as soothing as love

A fantastic insect with glittering wings
Couldn't be as alluring as love

The wind that carries a kite
Couldn't be as uplifting as love

And yet, a plague across the nations
Couldn't be as devastating as love

Awake I Lie In Solitude

Some days I hate myself
Catalogued feelings on the shelf
Come toppling down in torrents
When awake I lie in solitude

Thinking of the minutes wasted
Beauty so oft never tasted
I shudder in resentment
When awake I lie in solitude

An overhead plain of white ceiling plaster
Into which sinks the day's disaster
A multitude of careless mistakes
When awake i lie in solitude

Gradually dim the negativities
Like the city lights, I find clarity
Sleep she crawls like a snake
And my lids close in solitude

Time

Time, the sly one
The black panther crouching
Inconspicuous in life's foliage
Seeming to be in tireless run

We, the antelope, earth brown
Unsuspecting of his presence
Of his incomprehensible power
His senses tack us down

Slinking between the shadows
Of doubt, carnivorously
Waiting to corner the pestilent
That they are, the weak never know

It occurs to us time would speed
But like a whisper he slithers
His yellow cat eyes aflash
The signs we fail to read

Then he leaps, a racing blur
Streak of black the panther becomes
Hooves clop frantically for escape
Run, but he shall not deter

Time, you must never underestimate
And our limbs flimsy as reeds
Succumb to his ever hunting claws
A reminder 'fore he seals our fate

A Poem That Isnt Poetic

I was trying to write you a poem
But how can i confine to meter, rhyme
These feelings that flow so furiously
They coagulate, I choke
And not one thing comes out

Because every time you are near
I still get the shivers
I still want to get closer
And the times we're apart
I ache to see you again
I dream of your liquid eyes

If i could write you a song, I would
But I'm no musician
I can't find the words
If i could stay in your arms longer, I would
But time slips away
Things get in the way

And like clay without moisture
Or brooks without laughter
Like morning grass without dew
I would be incomplete without you

You make me laugh
In that wonderful way you do
It feels so light, so good
To know i can always laugh with you

And your every touch, every whisper, every kiss
Every move has me transfixed
Has me begging for more
Like the way you say so softly, "i love you"
Like the words would shatter if they
Weren't uttered so
As if you mean it in the most gentle way
I know you mean it

Even if tomorrow we part
To have loved you
So understanding, funny, weird,
So forgetful, sensitive, open, kind,
So full of unconditional love
And to know you have loved me
That i am worthy of this
It is enough happiness
To last me a lifetime

The way you have moved me
How you showed what it felt like
To be truly loved
How you held me so close to you
I could feel your heart beat
I knew at that moment
How perfectly we fit together

I could never hope to find
A person like you
And we are so lucky
To have found each other

I love you...

If No One Were Looking

If no one were looking
We can stop pretending
Our actions real and true
Feelings in plain hue
No more meek hiding
If no one were looking

If no one were listening
Secrets no longer silent
Out loud would speak minds
No thought straying behind
Every signal openly sent
If no one were listening

If no one were judging
Our choices solely our own
No expectations to meet
No victory or low defeat
Or disapproving undertones
If no one were judging

S.O.L.I.T.U.D.E

Safe from opinions

On your own, alone is bliss

Little can they do to you

Inside yourself you abode

Timeless, spaceless imagination

Untainted hopes and aspirations

Deepest anger and hate

Everything is treasured in solitude

Request to a Friend

There’s so little I have to say to you
You’re just another photograph
Just another erased tattoo
On my bleeding skin
Today when you stare straight at me
And mockingly you laugh
You are no more just anybody
Questioning my decisions

I want to scream, make you realize
I’m not a thoughtless fool
For once, look into my eyes
Don’t turn my dreams away
A quiet mind with few words
I want to convince you
There are voices in me, unheard
I am brimming with things to say

We are much alike, you and I
Tiny mysteries that we hide
If only we saw eye to eye
There would be nothing to mend
Don’t look through me like I am worthless
Respect me for what is inside
As I see in you good company, no less
So find in me a new friend

The Fool's Downfall

Glow the smiles like sunshine
Till horizon, so divine
Brightness
Wind singing through your hair
Spices floating in the air
Sweetness

You search not, 'tis waiting
Beneath, clawed and hiding
The pain
Stalking each reckless move
Look clearer to see through
The veil

Naively believing
Blind to truth approaching
You fool!
Life paints a picture bleak
It's law crushes the weak
Like you

Open hazy eyes at last
As dreams sleep in the past
And die
Ilusions have faded
Lying alone defeated
You cry

Is there no-one who cares
This soul drenched in despair
Retreats
How fast the bubble burst
The past lays a heavy curse
Of defeat

If

If I laughed when I had the chance
If I did when you asked me to dance
If no-one were watching us
If time was not stalking us
If all that was wrong turned right
If we we could be alone tonight
If hearts were never broken
If there were no words left unspoken
If not a glistening tear shed
If tomorrow I don't wake from bed
If your eyes didn't betray the truth
If we could drink from a fountain of youth
If money moved not a man
If only they would understand
If a kiss could bring me to life
If blood never dripped from a knife
If the world stopped going round
If we could run away and never be found
If my every wish were granted true
I'd only wish to stay with you.

Abstract Mind

A heart, Artistic
A life, Mystic
These hands, creating
These eyes, ever searching

What things unseen, catch my eye
As a world of normality passes by:
Delicate white lace in the breaking tide
A lost feeling in memory revived,
The curve of a hip in sand dunes,
Silver fairy dust in craters of the moon,
The sweat of labour in melting ice,
Twinkling diamonds in the eyes of surprise,
The stench of murder in a matador's red
Twisted lies in golden truth said
The depth of the past in a bottle of ink,
Desperate clasping hands in chain links.

This mind, heady with Fantasy
This mind, severed from Reality
This mind, straying from Fact
This mind, Unreal, Abstract.

Let it Slide

When your world is a mess, insane
Don't scream out loud, refrain
Keep your chin high,
Wipe those red eyes dry
Away with these washable stains.

When hope crumbles in your hands
Weary and weak, you lose your stand
Another ditch in the road,
A minute of biting cold
But a thread in the intricate plan.

When its a blizzard of bad days
There's a light through the haze
It's a momentary gale
Soon, your ship will set sail
To the door at the end of the maze.

Just let things slide,
Take trouble in your stride
Why frown, why worry
You will get through the calamity
What counts is the ride

Just let things slide
Don't you feel deprived
These tremors are a phase
That time will soon erase
Just a shake to your pride
Let it slide.

Higher

Every day was so happy
Every second a dream
Until reality wakes me up to life
Was false what I had seen.
Frowning is the former beauty
Pain is yet to come round
Deprived of shelter, alone
Walking to a new life, waiting to be found

When love takes you higher, you soar
To a life every man strives for
Climbing step by step, elevating
Yelling and telling anyone
Who was underestimating you
Soon you'll reach up there
Where your dreams materialize
Racing on, unstoppable
With a relentles fire in your eyes.
What lies before me is not a dream
Life is never fully what it seems
I’ve learnt to fight and I’m finally winning
Of these years the pain is slowly thinning
It’s a brand new beginning
My head heald high, the past at my feet
When time was in the rain, on the streets
Deprived of shelter, alone
Walking to a new life, waiting to be found

When love takes you higher, you soar
To a life every man strives for
Climbing step by step, elevating
You know no-one is underestimating you
No force could pull you to the ground
Your faith in yourself will keep you around
You're here, on the peak of the world
Your daring dreams before you unfurled.

Poetry

when language like bubbling streams flow

when words are laid down to fit like lovers' hands

when you feel the essence of the poet from within

when swirling thoughts are caught in the net of rhythm

when images reel as you read

when pen and paper create a symphony

then, it is poetry
